My daily painting routine as an artist was interrupted during the pandemic and I felt isolated for a while until I realized I had the chance to form a closer bond with family and friends by painting the faces and spaces I have known so well in a new light. This allowed me to reflect upon my relationships with them as an artist as they became my subjects. I chose brighter colors and patterns than I typically do, as they became an antidote for my sadness and skepticism to the return of a normal life again.
