2024 National Juried Exhibition Juried by April Gornik

Opening Reception: Saturday, November 2, 3pm – 5:30pm

FIRST STREET GALLERY is proud to present its 2024 National Juried Exhibition. Juried by nationally celebrated landscape painter April Gornik, the exhibition presents works by thirty-eight contemporary artists. Working with traditional painting, printmaking or graphics media, mixed media, photography, and sculpture in plaster, ceramic stoneware and Persian travertine, the artists engage with figurative, abstracted, and narrative imagery. Landscape, portrait, diverse figure perspectives, and still life are all represented, as are abstract compositions.

Richly painted landscapes and colorful urban or suburban settings evoke personal connection to an intimately familiar place, or take in more distant views of land, sea and sky. An intense play of dark and light is a significant feature in several of the works in this expressive exhibition. Closely observed portraits and groupings of figures set in interiors or out of doors tell a particular story or offer a scene that is easy for the viewer to relate to. A delicate needlepoint composition, unique in its artistic conception and execution, conveys an urgent message in the current fraught political discourse.

Representing every region of the country, here are the exhibiting artists:
