Zeuxis – Press Release

An Association of Still Life Painters

For the Love of Chardin

October 4–29, 2022

Still-life with pipe and jug on table

Jean-Baptiste-Siméon Chardin, Still-Life with Pipe and Jug, c. 1737, oil on canvas, 12.75 x 15.75 inches

Reception: Saturday, October 8, 3–5pm

For some artists today, Chardin holds special meaning, as a painter capable of imparting profound, rhythmic weight — compositional character — to the most humble of objects. His achievement, not likely to be equaled today, continues to inspire searches for a modern equivalent. In just this spirit, the artist of Zeuxis and their guests present “For the Love of Chardin,” an analysis and tribute to one of history’s most accomplished still life painters.

This exhibition will be accompanied by a 36 page full-color catalog.
