This exhibition is a dual showing of works by Swiss-born artists Rosemarie Schiller and Thomas Bühler. Both artists share life and many journeys together, yet in their art each maintains their own signature style, expression, as well as mediums.

The works shown are an expression of both artists’ deep connection with the natural world and ancient beginnings. Frequent travels ‘South of the Border’ and camping out in remote areas for long stretches of time have shaped their perception and view of time and being.

Rosemarie Schiller’s freestanding installation of 4 double-sided Panels (‘Beyond Yucatán’) is an eye-catching center piece of enlarged lush jungle drawings on canvas, revealing the poignant memory of a young child: A juxtaposition of intimate inner perceptions and the immensity of hidden worlds – keeper of collective memories.

Her assemblage of 22 pairs of hand-built, smoke-fired clay feet on sand (‘Endless Walk’) are witnesses of the constant passing of time and flow of generations.

Thomas Bühler: In his striking oil paintings this artist uses vibrant and bold colors, contrasting hues with bodily textures. His large canvases (‘Xtampak’ Series) contain clear geometrical shapes reaching out into the Unknown. In ‘Sun-Drop Series’ primordial fragments create new inner dimensions. The works were created during the recent ‘pandemic isolation’.
